In this process, machine tools are used to cut metal components to desired specifications and dimensions. Such machining tools are often used and operated by abstractly programmed controls which are stored as well as encoded on a storage medium. The most common examples of processes used in CNC production are the highly automated processes of CAM (Computer Aided Manufacturing) and CAD (Computer Aided Design), both of which play key roles in the additional process of CNC turning.
